The idea

A square that gave up its corners.

Maria Velichkova sets the Squircle out as a square and rounds each corner by hand until the sides just stop reading straight. The four curves are not identical, and the glass is cut to the drawing rather than to a formula, so the mirror keeps the small unevenness of the hand.

ZAVEL Reflection Index · RI 04

How Squircle changes a room.

Primary reflection behavior

Softens architecture

Its softened square answers the strict lines of joinery and tile while the halo lifts it clear of the plaster.

Recommended viewing distance
0.6 to 2 m
Reflected field
Compact and square, head and shoulders at the basin
Natural light
Angled or indirect light, with its own halo supplying the rest
Wall conditions
A quiet wall with at least 95 cm clear width above a basin or console
Visual weight
Light
Rooms
Bedroom, Dressing room, Entryway

A frameless square with no corners has nothing to catch the eye but its halo, so it sits quietly at small scale.

Practical details

Made to arrive with certainty.

Dimensions
W 70 × H 72 × D 3.5 cm
Materials
4 mm clear mirror glass, integrated 3000K LED halo, rear mounting batten
Finish
Frameless, with a fine polished edge
Orientation
Near square, with no fixed orientation

Made and tested in Bulgaria

Installation

Needs a wall of at least 95 by 100 cm.

Fix the rear batten into solid blocking with the centre at standing eye line, and have a qualified electrician connect the driver to a switched supply. Keep the driver clear of splashes.

Care

Dust with a soft dry cloth and clean the glass as any mirror glass. Keep moisture away from the rear edge, where the LED halo and its driver sit.

The next step

Squircle is decided on your wall.

Tell the studio the wall you have in mind, and the finish, the current lead time and delivery to your address are confirmed by reply.
