The idea

A circle with nothing to hold it but light.

The Circle is the one form in the collection Maria Velichkova does not draw by hand: it is cut true, because a circle that is nearly true reads as a mistake. What is hers is the halo, tuned to 3000K and set back from the edge so the light spreads on the plaster rather than glaring at the glass.

ZAVEL Reflection Index · RI 03

How Circle changes a room.

Primary reflection behavior

Creates a focal point

A lit circle gives a wall a centre even in low or indirect light, without the mass a cast surround brings.

Recommended viewing distance
1 to 3 m
Reflected field
Round and close, head and shoulders above the console
Natural light
Ambient or angled light, with its own halo supplying the rest
Wall conditions
A quiet wall with at least 95 cm clear width above a console
Visual weight
Light
Rooms
Dining room, Entryway, Living room

Frameless glass carries no mass, so the presence is the halo's, and it grows as the room darkens.

Practical details

Made to arrive with certainty.

Dimensions
70 cm diameter, 3.5 cm deep
Materials
4 mm clear mirror glass, integrated 3000K LED halo, rear mounting batten
Finish
Frameless, with a fine polished edge
Orientation
Circular, with no fixed orientation
Origin
Made and tested in Bulgaria

Installation

Needs a wall of at least 95 by 95 cm.

Fix the rear batten into solid blocking and have a qualified electrician connect the driver to a switched supply. Centre the circle on the console below it rather than on the wall.

Care

Dust with a soft dry cloth and clean the glass as any mirror glass. Keep moisture away from the rear edge, where the LED halo and its driver sit.

The next step

Circle is decided on your wall.

Tell the studio the wall you have in mind, and the finish, the current lead time and delivery to your address are confirmed by reply.

Where the room asks for a larger circle with a sculpted frame, Orbit adds relief and shadow around the reflection.
